Co Editors in Chief
Anna Nelson is a junior majoring in Philosophy, Gender and Women’s Studies, and 2D Studio Art. Her favorite books are The Castle Cross the Manget Carter by Kia Corthron, The Overstory by Richard Power, and We Do This ‘Til We Free Us by Mariame Kaba. One work she hasn’t but feels she should read is any Dickens Poetry! In addition to reading and activism, she is currently training for a triathlon with the UW team.
Ria Dhingra is a junior studying English, Philosophy and Criminal Justice. Her favorite authors are James Joyce, James Baldwin, Virginia Woolf, and Margaret Atwood. She feels like she should have read Anna Karenina by now because every time she tells people she’s an English major, Tolstoy comes up. Ria is currently trying Pilates, loves to go on walks, and is usually at the campus radio station, WSUM 91.7.
Associate Editors
Poetry – Lacey Brooks is a junior studying English Creative Writing. Her favorite authors are Patrick Rothfuss, Robert Frost, and Sylvia Plath. One book she hasn’t but feels she should read is Pride and Prejudice. She highly recommends taking spontaneous walks around campus, especially areas with the most nature!
Prose – Shala Pechaco is a sophomore studying English Creative Writing and Elementary Education. Her facorite authors are Natalie Diaz, Hanif Abdurraqib, and Fariha Róisín. One book she hasn’t but feels she should read is also Pride and Prejudice – she loves rom coms too much to have never touched it. One fun fact is that she has drawn all of her tattoos herself!
Fiction – John Nugent is a senior studying English and Philosophy. His favorite author is Cormac McCarthy; his novel Blood Meridian is John’s favorite book. One book he hasn’t read but feels he should is Underworld by Don DeLillo. Some of his fun facts include that he lived in Malaysia for a year, he collects signed, limited books, and is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan!
Non Fiction and Layout Designer – Nuha Dohlby is a senior studying Math, Computer Science and English Literature.
Academic – Aspen Oblewski is a junior studying Legal Studies. Her favorite book is We Had to Remove This Post by Hanna Bervoets – the Goodreads reviews do not do it justice! One book she hasn’t read but feels she should is Warrior Cats girl, because an important era of life that she missed out on! Fun fact: she could write a PhD dissertation on any content creator or YouTube event pre-2015.
Academic – Landis Varughese is a freshman studying English Literature. His favorite book is Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren, and one book he hasn’t but feels he should read is On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. Landis has a growing addiction to coffee and loves any music from kpop to R&B to indie.
Art – Carsyn Barber is a senior studying English, Art History and Education Policy Studies. Her favorite authors are Chang-Rae Lee and James Baldwin, and her favorite works are Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, and Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. One book she hasn’t but feels she should read is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Carsyn loves going on walks, sitting in gardens, and sewing!
Administration
Managing Director – Julia Kay Smith is a junior studying Sociology and Textiles & Fashion Design. Her favorite authors are Jennifer Egan, Sally Rooney, and Ray Bradbury, and one books she hasn’t but feels she should read is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. She loves istening to music, drinking coffee, making clothes, writing poetry, spending time with my favorite people, and playing with her dogs Honey Butter and Wrigley!
Publishing Director – Sophia Smith is a junior studying English, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice and Medieval Studies. Her favorite authors are Sarah J Maas, Virginia Woolf, Rick Riordan, and Jane Austen. One book she hasn’t but feels she should read is Wuthering Heights. She is studying abroad next semester in England, her favorite genre of music is “depressed cowboy,” and she adores cherry bars!
Outreach Coordinator – Sophia Shashko is a sophomore studying Political Science, Sociology, Criminal Justice and Integrated Liberal Studies. Her favorite authors are Jane Austen and the Bronte Sisters, and her favorite book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. One book she hasn’t but feels she should read is Farenheit 451. Sophia plays many instruments, paints and sketches, and her family was the first Japanese family in Madison!
Financial Director – Jonathan Tostrud is a freshman studying Pre-Business. His favorite book is the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, and he hasn’t read Dune but would like to soon. Jonathan loves fall and fried cheese curds, plays tennis and is in the Badger Band!
Graphic Designer – Emily Wesoloksi is a junior studying Marketing, English Creative Writing and Digital Studies. Her favorite authors are Casey McQuiston, Nghi Vo and John & Hank Green. She feels like she needs to read The Disordered Cosmos: A Journey into Dark Matter, Spacetime, and Dreams Deferred by Chanda Prescod-Weinstein. Emily loves embroidery and making niche spotify playlists, and she knows how to drive a semi truck!
