This seminar provides an introduction to feminist educational practices and approaches in Gender and Women’s Studies. It focuses upon: (1) a hands-on experience with developing feminist pedagogical materials, classroom strategies and a teaching portfolio, (2) the historical importance of an explicit feminist pedagogy in the foundation of GWS, and (3) the development of feminist pedagogical theory. We will examine these issues from an explicitly interdisciplinary perspective, highlighting contributions made by feminist scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds.
