Also known as “The Art/Life Enigma,” this is a studio course on the intersection of everyday life and the extraordinary experience of art, and on the intertwining of abstract knowledge with embodied practice. Together we will study art/life practices and practice art/life studies.

Students will weave art with lifeways such as conversation, traveling, cooking and eating, gardening, dressing, play, and politics. Note that while much student work in this class may be performance (or performative), the concept embraces any artmaking that can investigate life (perhaps especially craft processes and spatiotemporal forms such as installation, book arts, audio, and video).
