Jared Lee is a PhD Student in Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies at UW-Madison. He brings a background in directing, producing, marketing, and artistic leadership. His research interests include how immersive and interactive theatre can be used to develop financially sustainable, community-centered models for US regional theatres. Framed within the concept of “Theatre Without Walls,” his research proposes an alternative model that untethers theatre from high-overhead infrastructure and re-centers it on civic dialogue, flexible storytelling, and environmental adaptability.
He holds an MFA in Theatre Management from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI ‘20) and an MFA in Directing from the University of Portland (Portland, OR, ‘14) (MFA Directing Thesis: Artaudian Application in Adaptation of Georg Büchner’s Woyzeck) and a B.S.Ed. in Speech and Theatre Education from Missouri State University (Springfield, MO ’08)
