Just in time for the start of the semester next week: My dog Willy and I passed our team evaluation for Dogs On Call, a local animal therapy organization, with flying colors this weekend. Willy will follow in the footsteps of Fritzi, with whom I volunteered for Dogs On Call for 7 years. Fritzi passed from brain cancer last year. He is dearly missed.
I am very proud of my little squish (he will always be li’l Willy), who happily greeted strangers without jumping, passed another dog without getting too excited, tolerated clumsy hugs and shouting, and came to me when called, all while wagging his beautiful Munster tail. Campus visits and Veterans Hospital, here we come!
