I received funding from the Hessen Incentive Grant to develop a COIL (collaborative online international learning) course on the Linguistics of Sustainability with Professor Holden Härtl at the University of Kassel. Hessen is the German partner state of Wisconsin and also happens to be the state where I grew up in Germany. The proposed course will enhance the English Department’s offerings in Environmental Humanities and count towards the new Bachelor in Sustainability Communication at the University of Kassel. I won’t actually be teaching the class (I don’t have capacity for that), but I look forward to developing it, ready for a lecturer to step in and teach it.
